Traffic Signal / Pedestrian Signal

Address: Caseus Fromagerie & Bistro 93 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT, 06510, USA
Rating: 5

Northbound cars turning right from Whitney Avenue onto Trumbull Street do NOT realize that the pedestrian walk signal is on and that they must yield to pedestrians. When a pedestrian tries to cross Trumbull Street to continue north/south on Whitney, the right-turning drivers continue to turn, making things difficult (dangerous) for pedestrians. Traffic signage MUST be improved to indicate that right-turning cars must yield to pedestrians, or the pedestrian walk light should be rewired to only turn on when the Whitney Avenue light is red. Perhaps clearer cross-walk lines should also be instituted, or the pedestrian walk sign should be made more visible to cars. This intersection is heavily trafficked by employees and students every single day, and the status quo is not sustainable. Someone is will inevitably get hurt. The City should make fixing the signal at this intersection a priority.
